On a few random Saturdays, some kids from Shimo have wandered over to Leila’s house with an excuse that they need something for school, when really they are hoping to get a meal. Most of these kids go to the Ukrainian school in Shimo or Oasis of Hope and there they get their one meal a day. The weekends are hard because these kids go hungry. So you can’t really blame them for showing up.

It was nap time for the kids that live at the house.
So the party had to move outside and the kids watched TV through the window.

This past Saturday we decided to cook for them. We planned a fun day where they could come hang out and get some food too. It ended up being quite the part with a big crew of kids. There were the 12 kids that live at the home, 10 kids from Shimo and we brought over 5 kids from Purpose Driven Academy to hang out for the day. We set up a movie and they all relaxed for a bit before lunch. We cooked green grams, chapati and rice for all the kids. They all had extra food left over to take home and eat later. Then afterwards they all went outside and played in the backyard.  It was a fun day to just hang out and relax with all the kids. Here are some pictures.
